About the Role

The Director of Estate & Municipal Services will report directly to the Vice-Chancellor and will be responsible for overseeing the university’s entire physical infrastructure.

This includes:

• Buildings and facilities
• Roads and drainage systems
• Utilities (power, water, etc.)
• Landscapes, gardens, and parks

The successful candidate will also provide strategic leadership to ensure the university environment remains safe, functional, and suitable for academic excellence.

Key Responsibilities

As Director, your duties will include:

• Providing leadership and strategic direction for the Estate & Municipal Services Directorate
• Supervising maintenance and repairs of buildings, roads, and utilities
• Managing landscapes, parks, and environmental aesthetics
• Developing policies for infrastructure management and sustainability
• Collaborating with other departments to ensure a safe campus environment
• Overseeing budget planning and resource allocation
• Monitoring staff performance and ensuring operational efficiency

Requirements & Qualifications

To be considered, applicants must meet the following criteria:

Educational Qualification

• Minimum of a Second-Class Lower Degree or HND in any of the following:
  • Estate Management & Valuation
  • Urban & Regional Planning
  • Civil, Mechanical, or Electrical Engineering
  • Architecture
  • Quantity Surveying
  • Building Technology or related disciplines
• Must possess NYSC Discharge or Exemption Certificate

Work Experience

• At least 12 years post-qualification experience
• Minimum of 4 years in a senior management role, preferably in a tertiary institution
• Proven track record in managing infrastructure within academic environments

Additional Requirements

• Strong ICT skills
• Excellent leadership and communication abilities
• Good interpersonal and team management skills
• Registration with relevant professional bodies such as:
  • Council for the Regulation of Engineering in Nigeria (COREN)
  • Architects Registration Council of Nigeria (ARCON)
  • Council of Registered Builders of Nigeria (CORBON)
  • Quantity Surveyors Registration Board of Nigeria
  • Town Planners Registration Council of Nigeria
• Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment

Conditions of Service

• Appointment is for a single non-renewable term of 5 years
• Salary and benefits are in line with Federal Government of Nigeria regulations and institutional policies
